ONDA vs. ONDA Pro: What's Actually Different?

ONDA and ONDA Pro are both DEKA Coolwaves® devices, and for body contouring they're the same— identical microwave technology and the same two body handpieces (Deep and Shallow). The Pro's one meaningful addition is a third handpiece, the “Pocket,” built for the face. So if your goal is body contouring, ONDA is the full tool — which is exactly why we invested in it.

Before and after ONDA Coolwaves body contouring on the abdomen: smoother, tighter contour

First, what ONDA does

ONDA is the first and only device to use Coolwaves®— 2.45 GHz microwave energy that's selectively absorbed by water-rich fat beneath the skin. The controlled heat breaks down fat cells (which your body clears naturally over the following weeks), smooths cellulite, and tightens skin, all while built-in contact cooling protects the surface. It does this through two handpieces: Deep for stubborn, localized fat, and Shallow for cellulite and skin tightening (and the under-chin area). Both ONDA and ONDA Pro share this exact system.

So what does the Pro actually add?

One thing: a third handpiece called the Pocket. It's engineered for the delicate skin of the face— treating jowls, defining the jawline, and refining a double chin — at a shallower, more precise focal depth than the body handpieces use. It's a genuinely useful tool if facial Coolwaves contouring is what you're after. What it is not is a more powerful or better version for the body. The Deep and Shallow handpieces that do the body work are identical on both machines — and per DEKA's own published spec sheets, both run the same 200 W of Coolwaves® at 2.45 GHz. The power output is literally the same.

ONDA and ONDA Pro are made by DEKA. Specifications from DEKA's official product brochures (ONDA Rev 1.6 and ONDA PRO Rev 1.0): both list Coolwaves® at 2.45 GHz and up to 200 W, with Deep and Shallow body handpieces; the Pro adds the Pocket handpiece for the face.

Why we invested in ONDA for body contouring

The vast majority of what patients want from Coolwaves is body work — a flatter abdomen, smoother flanks and thighs, less cellulite, tighter skin. Because ONDA delivers that with the exact same technology and handpieces as the Pro, investing in ONDA means our patients get the full-strength body-contouring result without paying a premium for a facial handpiece they may never need. We treat the abdomen, flanks, arms, thighs, buttocks, and the under-chin area — the areas ONDA was built for.

What if I want facial skin tightening?

Then a device built for the face is the right call — and we have two. Our first choice is XTherma, a high-frequency radiofrequency device with cryogen cooling built into every pulse, which heats the collagen-forming layers to firm the face, jawline, and neck — typically in a single session, with results building over the following months.

We also offer Secret RF microneedling, which combines radiofrequency energy with microneedling to firm skin, soften lines, and refine the jawline — a good fit when texture, pores, or acne scars are part of what you want addressed. Either way, these are purpose-built facial tools rather than a body device adapted for the face, so for facial goals they're the better fit anyway. Your provider will match the device to your skin at consultation.

ONDA body contouring cost in Anaheim

ONDA is $599 per session for any body area and $299 per session for the under-chin area through September 7. The average protocol is four sessions per area, spaced about four weeks apart. You'll get a personalized plan and quote at your consultation.

ONDA vs. ONDA Pro FAQ

What is the difference between ONDA and ONDA Pro?

Both are DEKA devices that use the same Coolwaves technology — 2.45 GHz microwave energy — and the same two body handpieces, Deep (for localized fat) and Shallow (for cellulite and skin tightening). The ONDA Pro adds a third handpiece, called the Pocket, built for the delicate skin of the face — jowls, jawline definition, and double-chin refinement. In short: the body treatment is the same on both; the Pro's real addition is facial contouring.

Is ONDA Pro better than ONDA for body contouring and fat reduction?

For the body, no meaningful difference. Localized fat, cellulite, and skin tightening on the abdomen, flanks, arms, thighs, and buttocks are all treated with the same Deep and Shallow handpieces delivering the same Coolwaves energy on both machines. The Pro's extra handpiece is designed for the face, not for getting better results on the body — which is exactly why we invested in ONDA for our body-contouring practice.

Can ONDA treat the face?

Our ONDA treats the body and the under-chin (submental) area with the Shallow handpiece. Full facial Coolwaves contouring — cheeks, jowls, and jawline — uses the ONDA Pro's dedicated Pocket handpiece, which works at a shallower, more precise depth for delicate facial skin. For facial skin tightening at Neoderma we prefer XTherma, our high-frequency radiofrequency device with built-in cryogen cooling, typically done in a single session. We also offer Secret RF microneedling, which pairs radiofrequency with microneedling when skin texture, pores, or acne scars are part of the goal.

How much does ONDA body contouring cost at Neoderma?

ONDA is $599 per session for any body area (abdomen, flanks, arms, thighs, buttocks) and $299 per session for the submental chin area, seasonal prices through September 7 (reg. $900 and $600). The average protocol is four sessions per area, and financing is available through Cherry and CareCredit.
