What Is Daxxify? The Peptide-Stabilized Botox Alternative, Explained
Daxxify is an FDA-approved wrinkle relaxer that works like Botox — a botulinum toxin type A that softens frown lines and other dynamic wrinkles. What's different is the recipe: instead of the albumin Botox uses to stay stable, Daxxify is held together by a synthetic peptide, which makes it free of blood-derived ingredients and helps it last up to 6 months. At Neoderma we offer it at $6.50 per unit.

What is Daxxify?
Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm, made by Revance) is a botulinum toxin type A neuromodulator — the same family as Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Xeomin. Injected in tiny amounts, it temporarily blocks the nerve signal that tells a muscle to contract, so the skin over that muscle stops creasing and existing lines soften. The FDA approved it in 2022 for moderate-to-severe frown lines (the “11s” between the brows), and providers use it much like other tox for forehead lines and crow's feet. If you've had Botox, a Daxxify appointment looks and feels the same.
What makes Daxxify different — the peptide
Every botulinum toxin needs a stabilizer— an ingredient that keeps the delicate protein intact in the vial and after it's injected. Botox, Dysport, and most others use human serum albumin, a protein purified from donated blood. Daxxify does something new: it replaces the albumin with a proprietary synthetic peptide called RTP004. That single swap drives Daxxify's two headline differences:
- ✓No blood-derived ingredients. Because the peptide is made in a lab, Daxxify is free of human and animal albumin — which some patients specifically prefer.
- ✓Longer staying power. The positively-charged peptide is thought to help the toxin attach more firmly at the nerve terminal, which researchers believe is why Daxxify's effect tends to outlast other neuromodulators.
A quick myth-buster: the “peptide” in Daxxify is a stabilizer, not a skincare peptide. It doesn't build collagen or hydrate skin the way a peptide serum might — its job is to hold the toxin together and help it last. Daxxify's benefit is longer wrinkle relaxation, full stop.
Daxxify vs. Botox at a glance
| Daxxify | Botox | |
|---|---|---|
| Active ingredient | DaxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm | OnabotulinumtoxinA |
| Stabilizer | Synthetic peptide (RTP004) | Human serum albumin (blood-derived) |
| Blood-product free | Yes — no human or animal albumin | No — uses human serum albumin |
| Onset (first results) | ~1–2 days | ~3–7 days |
| Typical duration | Up to ~6 months (median 24 weeks in trials) | ~3–4 months |
| FDA approval | 2022 (frown lines) | 2002 (frown lines) |
| At Neoderma | $6.50 / unit | $12.95 / unit |
Units are not interchangeable between products, so compare the total cost per treatment rather than the per-unit price. Duration figures are from manufacturer and published trial data; individual results vary.
Does Daxxify really last 6 months?
For many people, close to it. In Revance's Phase 3 SAKURA trials, the median duration of a single frown-line treatment was about 24 weeks (6 months), and roughly half of patients still had a visible response at the 6-month mark. That's notably longer than the 3–4 months typical of Botox. The honest caveat: “median” means half lasted longer and half shorter, and real-world results depend on your dose, how strong your muscles are, the area treated, and your metabolism. We'd rather you plan on a strong 4–6 months and be pleasantly surprised than expect a guaranteed half-year.
Does Daxxify work faster than Botox?
Often, yes — one of its underrated perks. In trials many patients saw movement soften in about 1–2 days, versus the 3–7 days that's typical for Botox to fully “kick in.” If you have an event on the calendar, a faster onset plus a longer runway can make Daxxify an appealing choice.
Is Daxxify right for me?
Daxxify tends to suit people who love their neuromodulator results but are tired of coming in every three months, and anyone who prefers an albumin-free, blood-product-free formula. If you're brand new to tox, some providers still like to start with a shorter-acting option so your dose can be fine-tuned before committing to a longer-lasting product — and that's exactly the kind of call we'll make together. Because it's the same class of medicine, the safety profile and contraindications mirror other botulinum toxins; we review your history first, and anything notable is reviewed by Dr. Nadkarni before treatment.
What does Daxxify cost in Anaheim?
At Neoderma, Daxxify is $6.50 per unit — but because Daxxify units measure differently than Botox units (roughly 2 Daxxify units per 1 Botox unit), the right way to compare is the total per treatment and, better yet, the cost per month of results. We carry Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify so we can match the product to your goals rather than sell you one option, and you'll always get a written estimate before any treatment.

Daxxify FAQ
What is the difference between Daxxify and Botox?
Both are botulinum toxin type A injectables that relax the muscles behind dynamic wrinkles, so the treatment feels the same. The difference is the stabilizer: Botox uses human serum albumin (a blood-derived protein) to keep the toxin stable, while Daxxify uses a proprietary synthetic peptide called RTP004. That peptide makes Daxxify free of human and animal blood products and is believed to help it bind longer at the nerve — which is why Daxxify can last up to about 6 months versus 3–4 for Botox.
Does the peptide in Daxxify improve my skin like a skincare peptide?
No — this is a common mix-up. The peptide in Daxxify (RTP004) is a stabilizer that replaces the albumin used in Botox; it holds the botulinum toxin together and helps it attach at the nerve terminal for longer. It is not a collagen-building or hydrating skincare peptide. Daxxify's benefit is longer-lasting wrinkle relaxation, not a separate skin-quality effect.
How long does Daxxify last compared to Botox?
In Revance's Phase 3 SAKURA trials the median duration of a Daxxify frown-line treatment was about 24 weeks (6 months), with roughly half of patients still showing a response at 6 months. Botox typically lasts 3–4 months. Real-world duration varies by person, dose, muscle strength, and treatment area, so not everyone reaches a full 6 months — we'll set honest expectations for you.
How much does Daxxify cost at Neoderma in Anaheim?
Daxxify is $6.50 per unit at Neoderma (Botox is $12.95/unit and Dysport $4.25/unit). Units are measured differently between products — it takes roughly 2 Daxxify units to equal 1 Botox unit — so compare the total per treatment, not the per-unit price. You'll get a transparent estimate at your consultation, and financing is available through Cherry and CareCredit.
